If only test #2 (modem) is WAY faster (it will likely be a little faster, even if all is well), then upgrade your router.

The ethernet adapter should be able to provide a higher download speed, but don't expect a drastic difference (in speed). Though I've seen a few post (rarely, if any) with people reaching speeds of 60mbps+ (highest I've seen was near 120mbps), but I'm not sure what adjustments they end up making. The Switch internet speed test usually caps out around 30mbps-45mbps. I used to use an ethernet adapter at my old home (contained only 1 floor/level) and had never came across any issues when using it at the time (had it connected to a Netgear router at the time).

I could drill holes and run cable through that method, but for now WiFi will do (I have one access point in my room/2nd floor). Due to my room being on the second floor and my router being on the 1st floor, I can't run an ethernet cable to my Switch. I currently am using a Nest Wifi Mesh System (1 router and 2 access points) and currently play using WiFi. But again, an ethernet adapter and a better controller will massively improve your online experience - especially that ethernet. GSP is just as easy to gain as it is to lose, so don't worry if you lose for a BS reason.

Since you're still relatively inexperienced with the game, just try to learn and get better when you play. To counteract this, focus on what you can do.

A pro controller would work fine as well, but I'd recommend something in the gamecube layout it was literally designed for smash bros.Īs for getting salty: most people get salty when they care about winning and then lose, particularly if they lost for reasons outside their control. Most people use either an analog gamecube controller with an adapter, or a USB plug-in controller with the gamecube layout. I have it and it's wonderful.Ī different controller won't make the online experience better, but it will be much easier to play the game. The difference really is night and day, particularly if your internet isn't really fast to begin with. Firstly: Please get an ethernet adapter that's the primary reason you have so much input delay.
